What Causes Alopecia

Writer's picture: EthanEthan

The answer is NO ONE KNOWS – Yet! Currently there are about 600,000 person in the United States with 3 different types of Alopecia- Areata, Totalis & Universalis.

AREATA affects on small area on the body.

TOTALIS affects all of the hair in one area of the body (for example, just the head)

UNIVERSALIS takes all of the hair from the body, even the eyebrows.

Basically the body attacks the hair and treats it as an enemy. Inflammation occurs and the hair falls out. Many diagnosis’ have claimed that it can be from stress. It is an autoimmune condition.

The Human Immune system has a memory so it is hard to reverse the Immune system once it considers the hair as an enemy. For AREATA, treatment can include a steroid injection which counteracts

the inflammation. In future posts we will post treatments that Ethan has tried and share the results.

We are optimistic that more drug companies are spending research money to go after Alopecia.
